Class of Monday Sep 25, 2006
Present: Dan E, Sam, Ron
Sam told us a little about his background and interests.
Ron explained a little about source separation.
What to do this semester?
- Better MEAP cross-mashup
- needs a better, more sophisticated composition algorithm
- verse-chorus style segmentation
- composers at different levels - within-segment, then segment arrangements
- different constraint on mashup e.g. joint sequential and similarity matching
provide MEAP feature extraction as external for MAX or SuperCollider]
- .. to allow live, interactive investigation of features
- easy to interface Java to Max
look at BBCut] - how is it similar and different? What functionality to users want and use?
- headbang algorithm is really cool, but room for including continuity constraints...
Back to the car
- A car would be a very appealing installation
- if we started working on a car, people would be excited to play with it
- where can we put a car to work on it?
- prentis - has a big elevator
- in the parking garage under Mudd
- what is the user interface?
- you try rolling the windows down
- mics on the body pick up interesting sounds
- you should be able to start the car (or at least crank the starter)
