It's the CMC's 50th bday, so we want to make the RCA Mark III

One of the interesting things about the MarkII was its physical input interface -- punched paper. We're thinking about focusing on that aspect for the MarkIII. We would design some sort of paper/plastic/mylar??? scrolling input device. Behind the scenes would be some video analysis process that just looks at the paper and parses the colors/shapes/gestures. Kind of a graphical score reader.

Maybe not a loop but mylar sheets that you mark with dry erase markers. You set a bunch of big toggle switch to tell the machine how much time the sheet represents (and maybe freq scaling or something). Or maybe it's totally abstract and the graphical analysis does some sophisticated magic to translate the image to sound...

So you draw something on the mylar and then you feed in your sheet and it makes beautiful music.

Anywho, we have a lot of questions about this (who's the graphical scene analysis expert?)...so maybe we can talk about it next MEAP???
