MEAP Class April 10, 2006
JohnArroyo presented EigenSynth at DorkBot last wednesday - good and dorky.
- Nearest Neighbor composer: what happens if you iterate it?
- Have a salon event - people come in and play with it?
- MEAP random synthesizer is the obvious way to get people to interact
- provide different samples based on velocity index
- pitch tracker is really crucial
- graham?
- or maybe get karin dressler's if graham doesn't come through?
- Variants on the beat detector?
- no need to optimize for online processing any more - do something different?
- ability to segment at different subdivisions of tactus - 1/4 note, 1/2 note etc.
- have them all in the database, have them chosen individually
- an impressive demo needs to have a steady beat on resynthesis - much more impressive
- iterative application of nearest-neighbor composer
one iteration can be sublime: LIB-it1.wav
sounds kinda interesting after 10 iterations LIB-it10.wav
- End-of-semester finale: release the code
- Douglas to do a GUI
- send links to Douglas to explain what we're doing
- Dan can help with an explanation, links
