MEAP Class of April 02, 2007
We have started writing a paper on MEAP.
Douglas argued that it would be lame to describe a version that doesn't allow you to play with the segmentation before going on.
Maybe a visualization of spectrogram. Or maybe just acoustic (blips) output.
What should the paper be about?
- Who is the target audience? Computer Music Journal readers - already buy in to modifying music (or Leonardo - more pretentious).
- What do we emphasize?
- beat-oriented view of music
- music analysis derived feature calculations
- More narrative, less press release
- Composers talk through examples
How is meapsoft different from (a) Zils & Pachet Musaicing] or (b) Bob Sturm's Adaptive Concatenative Sound Synthesis], or (c) Diemo Schwartz's thesis on data driven sound synthesis] ScrambledHackz!?]

Things to include in the paper:
- Orchestra - primates example (re: Sturm)
- MEAPsoft: Did you mean mapsoft?
- Don't include any overblown claims: just say what it is
